Swimming Gives You POWER!

No One in Poland Has Done a Project Like This Before. We gathered at the CSR WUM swimming pool to feel the open water energy before the season. Swimming around buoys over a distance of 475 meters brought great joy to nearly seventy participants from across Poland. It was the first event of its kind, but definitely not the last… Another meeting in this format is coming this fall. Don’t miss it!

What Is POWER RACE?

POWER RACE is pool swimming in an open water format, competing alongside other swimmers. A water start, the “washing machine” effect with everyone battling for position, turns at the buoys, and drafting—all of this happened during the POWER RACE. This unique event attracted swimmers well-known from pool competitions. Olympians Alicja Tchórz, Radosław Kawęcki, and Filip Wypych swam with us. Adam Dubiel, Polish record holder in lifesaving, Jakub Niedźwiadek, known for long-distance swimming, and Piotr Stanik, representing our friends from LaboSport, all showcased their skills. Among the women, Alicja Tchórz took first place, followed by Antonina Gierowska in second, and Paulina Zyga rounding out the podium.

Why POWER RACE?

  • We want to unleash the energy for open water swimming!
  • We encourage learning safe open water swimming techniques!
  • We promote open water swimming as a perfect way to stay active!
  • We highlight pool training as a crucial part of preparing for open water swimming!

Open water swimming continues to evoke strong emotions. Fear of the "unknown" lurking in lakes, ponds, rivers, or the sea is a significant barrier for many pool swimmers. Participating in organized and supervised events, like training sessions and competitions, is an excellent way to overcome these fears. Common challenges include navigation difficulties, fear of the so-called "washing machine" effect, turns at buoys, or the anxiety of being far from the shore.

Not all pool swimmers are ready to take on this challenge without proper training, and that’s a smart approach. POWER RACE was created specifically for these individuals. In the controlled environment of a swimming pool, participants can learn how to compete in open water. They can experience the unique atmosphere of open water racing, test their gear, and practice all the technical elements essential for enjoying open water swimming.
